Areas of Emphasis
SuReMin emphasizes four areas of focus to underpin a long-lasting mineral supply chain: data collection, disposal and reuse, life cycle evaluation, and education.
A leading voice for a just energy transition
The Sustainable, Resilient, responsible global Minerals supply chain (SuReMin) program will be a leading voice for a just energy transition by guiding the development of a socially responsible and environmentally sustainable international minerals supply chain.
As part of the Center for Engineering Sustainability and Resilience Track 2 National Science Foundation's Global Centers grant, SuReMin will design, plan, and coordinate a global center to recruit, train, and mobilize students and researchers from diverse backgrounds who conduct collaborative, use-inspired, high-impact, and transdisciplinary research.
SuReMin emphasizes four areas of focus to underpin a long-lasting mineral supply chain: data collection, disposal and reuse, life cycle evaluation, and education.
SuReMin collaborates with research partners throughout the United States, Chile, and Mexico, integrating divergent disciplines to build a stronger, more equitable scientific infrastructure.
Three workshops on core research topics will be held with community stakeholders to establish a clear pathway toward a future Global Center.
SuReMin supports undergraduate research trips to partnering organizations, grounding their learning within affected communities.
